Outlook Express SSL SMTP/POP3  

Start Outlook Express.

Open the "Tools" menu, choose "Accounts". This is done for you automatically the first time you run Outlook Express. If you already use Outlook Express, select this option manually.

Press the "Add" button, select "Mail".

Enter your personal information - name, E-mail address (yourname@domain.com) - when prompted.

Choose "POP3" server type.

Specify the name of the server as mutemail.com, in the "Incoming Mail Server" field.

Specify the name of the server as mutemail.com for outgoing mail ("Outgoing Mail Server" field).

On the next screen, enter your username and password. Use your MuteMail email address as username (yourname@domain.com for example), and your MuteMail password you chose during signup process. "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" must be unchecked.

Finish the rest of the set up by giving a name to this mail account.

You will be returned to the "Internet Accounts" dialog. If you are not returned to this screen, choose "Accounts" from the "Tools" menu account.

Select "Mail" tab. There will be an entry there for the new POP3 server account that you just entered. Click on it, then choose "Properties". Click on "Servers".

Select "My server requires authentication" and press the Settings button to configure it further. Another window will apear. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". Press OK, to close the window.

Select "Advanced" tab. Check "This server require a secure connection (SSL)" for both "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" and "Incoming mail (POP)" sections. If you would like to use alternate SMTP port, set "25001" in "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field instead of "25"

Save your changes pressing "OK", and go back to the main Outlook Express window.
